What is Web 3?
Web 3 is an idea implementation for the new World Wide Web which incorporates decentralization based on blockchain technology. The term was coined by Gavin Wood ( Ethereum co-founder ), which later gained interest in 2021 from cryptocurrency, blockchain enthusiasts.
Web 3 will be the third major phase of the Internet and to be simple it is a New Age Internet that will be based on the functionality of decentralization. Web 3 or Web 3.0 aims to deliver the control back to the user, which derives to the point that there is no requirement of permission by a service or any privacy violation.
What is the Web 3 Technology Stack?
The Web 3 technology has five layers namely L0, L1, L2, L3, L4, each of them serves a unique and important way of serving technology as described below:
- L0 - This Layer contains Zero/low trust meta protocols, Peer-to-peer internet overlay protocols, Platform-neutral language.
- L1 - This layer contains Zero/low trust interaction protocols, Data distribution protocols, Transient data pub/sub messaging.
- L2 - This layer contains State channels, Plasma protocols, Encrypted storage, Heavy computation, Distributed secret management, Oracles.
- L3 - This layer contains Protocol-extensible developer APIs & languages.
- L4 - This layer contains Protocol-extensible user-interface cradle (”browser”).
