Infineon boosts high-power systems with new EiceDRIVER 1200 V half-bridge driver IC family

Following the launch of the EiceDRIVER 6ED223xS12T series of 1200 V silicon-on-insulator (SOI) three-phase gate drivers, Infineon is now extending its product portfolio with the EiceDRIVER 2ED132xS12x series. The half-bridge configuration of this driver IC family complements the existing 1200V SOI family, providing customers with more choices and design flexibility. The enhanced current output capability increases the applicability of this product portfolio to higher system power levels.

These components provide industry-leading negative VS negative transient immunity, shoot-through protection, undervoltage lockout protection, and fast overcurrent protection. These features not only result in fewer components and a more robust design, but their reduced form factor makes them suitable for high power applications such as commercial HVAC systems, heat pumps, servo motors, industrial inverters, and pumps and motors with outputs up to 10 kW. fan.

This series of half-bridge driver ICs has four models, each using two different packaging technologies: 2ED132xS12M uses DSO-16 300 mil package, +2.3 A/-4.6 A current capability; 2ED132xS12P uses DSO-20 300 mil package, +2.3 A/-2.3 A current drive capability. This series integrates a low resistance (30 Ω) bootstrap diode to provide ultra-fast and accurate (±5% tolerance) over-current protection with separate logic ground and output ground pins to implement functions such as input, fault output, and programmable fault reset. The 2ED132xS12M variant also has the additional features of Active Miller Clamp and Short Circuit Clamp.

Infineon's SOI technology eliminates the parasitic thyristor structure and improves the negative transient voltage robustness and immunity on the VS pin, which guarantees the withstand of -VS transients of 100 V during repeated 700 ns pulse periods force.
