Renesas and Nidec to Collaborate on Semiconductor Solutions for Next-Generation Electric Vehicle E-Axle

Lansheng Technology News On June 5, semiconductor solution provider Renesas Electronics Corporation and Nidec Corporation announced a partnership to jointly develop semiconductor solutions for the next-generation E-Axle (X-in-1 system). The system integrates EV drive motors and power electronics for electric vehicles (EVs).

Current EVs increasingly feature the E-Axle, a 3-in-1 unit that integrates a motor, inverter and gearbox (reduction gear). To achieve high performance and efficiency as well as smaller, lighter and lower cost, and to accelerate vehicle development, EVs also integrate power electronic controls such as DC-DC converters and on-board chargers (OBC).
