STMicroelectronics releases galvanically isolated high-side switch with diagnostic control and protection for industrial loads

【Lansheng Technology Information】STMicroelectronics released a series of eight output high-side switches. The new products feature galvanic isolation and protection diagnostics with an RDS(on) of less than 260mΩ, improving application resistance to variability, energy efficiency, reliability and fault resilience.

STMicroelectronics' newly released eight-output switches ISO808, ISO808A, ISO808-1, and ISO808A-1 can drive all types of single-sided grounded industrial loads, such as capacitive, resistive, and inductive loads. Typical use cases are Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Industrial PCs, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, especially sensitive electronics in smart factories that require isolated current for enhanced protection.

SO808 and ISO808A limit the current to 0.7A, while ISO808-1 and ISO808A-1 limit the current to 1A. Each output of the ISO808 and ISO808-1 has a separate input pin, which can be directly controlled or synchronized switching operation, driving all output pins at the same time. The ISO808A and ISO808A-1 feature a serial SPI input pin and an open-drain power good (Pgood) pin for easy system management. All products in the series have a dedicated fault indication pin.

The ISO808 series has a huge development ecosystem, which has more advantages than other brand products. Four X-NUCLEO industrial digital output expansion boards (X-NUCLEO-OUT11A1, -OUT12A1, -OUT13A1, and -OUT14A1) can be used together with the STM32 Nucleo development board to speed up device applicability evaluation, while the graphical interface application software STSW-IFAPGUI can simplify Device configuration and control.
