Samsung Foundry Strengthens Partnerships with Major EDA Companies
At this year's Samsung Foundry Forum, the three-timer revealed how to strengthen ties with Synopsys, Cadence and Ansys. Samsung revealed the company's near- and long-term plans for its foundry business at its foundry forum.
First, Samsung highlighted its plans to expand its 2nm process and specialty process applications. Samsung also announced its intention to enhance fabless support for customers by consolidating relationships with major EDA companies. In this article, we will introduce some of the major partnerships that Samsung has established with EDA companies such as Synopsys, Cadence, and Ansys.
At this year's Fab Forum, Samsung strengthened its ties with EDA companies, one of which is Synopsys.
The two companies recently expanded their collaboration agreement to jointly develop a broad intellectual property portfolio. To minimize design risk and accelerate silicon success for various applications, the collaboration strengthens Synopsys' IP offerings for Samsung's advanced processes, including 8LPU, SF5, SF4 and SF3. Synopsys is also optimizing IP for Samsung's SF5A and SF4A automotive process nodes to meet stringent temperature and reliability requirements.
Synopsys and Samsung Foundry also help chip companies accelerate the design of 2.5D and 3D multi-chip systems on Samsung's most advanced process technology. The companies are providing certified EDA reference flows, including Synopsys 3DIC compilers and UCIe IP for chip-to-chip connectivity, to help designers develop multi-chips on Samsung Foundry's 5nm, 4nm and 3nm processes system.
Other notable collaborations between Synopsys and Samsung Foundry include the development of an optimized design flow for Samsung Foundry's SF2 process and a new reference flow for RFIC design with Samsung Foundry for its 14LPU process technology.
