Samsung SDI produces 46120 batteries

【Lansheng Technology Information】 Samsung SDI, a battery manufacturer under the Samsung Group, plans to expand its battery factory in Gord, Hungary within this year to produce 46120 batteries (diameter 46mm, length 120mm). BMW, a customer of Samsung SDI, which is building an electric vehicle factory near Debrecen in eastern Hungary, has requested the production of 46120 batteries.

Samsung SDI has electric vehicle battery factories in South Korea, China, Malaysia, and Hungary. In August last year, foreign media reported that the company planned to invest 2 trillion won in Europe to expand its production of electric vehicle batteries. The company will expand its existing EV battery plant in Hungary and increase production capacity. According to Korean media, the company plans to expand its battery factory in Goed, Hungary within this year. The company is expected to spend 500 billion won on expansion, adding two new production lines, with an annual capacity of 10GWh.

In January this year, Samsung SDI plans to build a third electric vehicle battery factory in Hungary, which will supply batteries to BMW. Previously, Samsung SDI announced that it plans to start trial production of lithium iron phosphate batteries and nickel-manganese batteries later this year, and plans to start producing 4680 batteries for Tesla's Model Y as early as next quarter.
